A political prediction

Rudy Giuliani, although an early front runner in polls for the G.O.P.'s nomination for president, doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell of actually winning the nomination.

Some stuff about Rudy:

-Scandalous affair while married and mayor of New York.

-Married to his third wife, the tango partner in the affair.

-Pro-gay, anti-gun, pro-abortion.

The ultimate winner of the primary will need the backing of the "Religious Right". It doesn't seem possible that the party that trumpets family values would actually turn out to pull the lever for the man . My guess is that many of the likely voters that have been polled only know the tough guy image of Giuliani that he portrayed after the attacks of September 11, 2001 and have no clue as to his character or where he stands on any issues.

My prediction is that you'll see his poll numbers sharply decrease as more facts about the man become known by the general public.

Good thing he isn't running as a Democrat, though. He would have already been nailed to the cross by Republicans.

You're depressing. Right, but depressing. The Xians are driving me apeshit.

How many radical Evangelical conservatives do you think know that Rudy ran for mayor on both the Republican AND Liberal Party lines? It's true...

I for one would vote for Rudy if I had the chance.

As a Republican that quite frankly detests my party's co-op by evangelical fundamentalists, I'm really looking forward to the debate caused by such populist candidates as Giuliani, Romney, and McCain trying to get the party's nomination. I just hope that Giuliani stays true to his ideas in spite of the pressure that has caused McCain to warm up to the Republican's so-called "base".

Ultimately, though, I have faith that the entire country, even Republicans, will think better of entrusting our executive office again to someone so intellectually lacking and partisanly-divisive as GW has been. While none of the above seem so, we'll see which of them hire the evil force behind it all - Carl Rove.

I don't see how a man that has been filmed in drag no less has a snowball's chance in hell of securing the Republican nomination. And it's a shame thatthis is true in today's society.

Rudy is just there to make the right look righteous. See, they can field a candidate that isn't a christian. But will they vote for him? Hell no!!!
Oh, they can't vote for Romney either. He's a, dare I say it out loud? He's a MORMON!!The religous right has no room for any candidate that is not slated for sainthood. The candidate that they will nominate? Pat Robertson. He speaks to God and thinks bush is a slacker in the holier than thou department. When he is elected they will party like it's 1799! It will be called a return to Puritanism. Write this down and put it in an envelope to be opened in November the day after the election.

I'm telling you straight out....and without any discrimination in my heart....I promise....but there's no way that Romney will achieve the 100% backing and support of the Christian Right. Been in that situation, have seen it, experienced it, and know it very very well. We've done got ourselves a real good mess here, folks. And, as bad as you think it is right now, it can always get worse. Now there's a vote of optimism!

How true Brad... how very true...

I guess you ignore "sin" when it in one of your parties frontrunners...

Just wait. The radical evangelical's grip on the Republican Party is naturally going to be diminished as the evangelicals realize the hypocrisy (all the divorced or gay leaders) and branch out to start their own party.
Once divorced of their radical and vicious moral agenda, the Republicans might find a level of center-right politics which will often appeal to many gay men...but not before. In the meantime, my occasional bleeding heart will continue to necessitate voting Democratic even though their candidates could parse support for gays into such tiny pieces that, were it cheese, they'd be too small for a dormouse.

You know, just this morning I was thinking: what candidate is pro-gay, pro-civil rights, and has experience that this country needs...
I can't believe that a Republican fits my criteria, but yeah, out of all the people so far, Rudi has impressed me the most.
I can't believe I'm saying that...

Oh Newt is positioning himself to announce. Distancing himself from his recent alliance w/Hillary and now pre-confessing to an affair.

He'd have no reason to tell anyone that shit unless it would come out some other way. And in the non-political arena, no one gives a shit.

Will the Right elect either Rudy or Newt who have seven marriages between them? Family values my ass!
